Lesson 1: Introduction to Japanese
  • In this lesson, one will learn about the origin of the language, the use of the language in and outside of Japan, the different scripts for writing Japanese, and the basic daily greetings (Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening, Good Night, Thank You, Sorry, etc.).
Lesson 2: Types of Sentences and their Construction
  • In this lesson, one will get to learn the different types of sentences: affirmative, negative, interrogative. One will also learn about the basic expressions used in daily life (How are you?, Please speak slowly, I understand, I don't understand, etc.) and the particles は (wa) and か (ka).
Lesson 3: わたしは ジョン です。 (I am John.)
In this lesson, one will learn the following things:
  1. One's identity
  2. One's nationality
  3. One's occupation
  4. One’s age
  5. One’s hobbies
Lesson 4: これは ほん です。 (This is a book.)
Grammar Points:
  1. Demonstratives (Set -1):

Lesson 5: この くるまは たなかさんの です。 (This car is Mr. Tanaka's.)

Lesson 6: ちちは いしゃ です。 (My father is a doctor.)
In this lesson, one will learn the following things:
  1. Members of the family
  2. Various occupations
Kanji - 父, 母, 姉, 妹, 兄, 妹
Lesson 7: これは たかい カメラ です。 (This is an expensive camera.)
This lesson helps the learner in learning the types of adjectives in Japanese. One will learn the following things:
  1. i-adjectives and their different conjugations:
  • Affirmative
  • Negative
  • Past affirmative
  • Past negative

Lesson 8: きょうは にちようび です。 (Today is Sunday.)
This lesson will give the learner an idea about the following things:
  1. Days of the week
  2. Yesterday, today, tomorrow
  3. Dates of the month
Kanji - 日, 月, 火, 水, 木, 金, 土
Lesson 9: Verbs
In this lesson, one will learn about verbs and their different types:
  1. Type 1 verbs, Type 2, and Type 3 verbs and their different conjugations

Kanji - 行, 書, 待, 持, 読, 飛, 乗, 急, 死
Lesson 10: TE-form of Verbs
In this lesson, the learner will learn about the “te-form of verbs” and its different usages.
Lesson 11: NUMBERS
In this lesson, one will learn about the following things:
  1. Numbers
  2. Time
  • Hours
  • Minutes
Kanji - 一, 二, 三, 四, 五, 六, 七, 八, 九, 十
Lesson 12: わたしは アイスクリームが すき です。 (I like ice cream.)
Grammar Points:
  1. Liking and disliking
  2. Wanting something
  3. Particle – が (ga)
Kanji - 秋, 夏, 春, 冬, 東, 西, 北, 南
Lesson 13: わたしは にほんごが できます。 (I can speak Japanese.)
Grammar Points:
  1. Potential form (can) and its different conjugations – affirmative, negative, past, past negative.

Lesson 14: たべる まえに てを あらって ください。(Please wash your hands before eating.)
